This will be my first time in four seasons that I won’t be working Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC. While it kills me not to be there, I am thankful that they lifestream it and that all of my classrooms have internet (sorry professors). Happy night before Fashion Week!
One of the dangers of interning with BCBG is that everything you see you want need! Here are some pieces that I spotted that I might just not be able to live without!
BCBG’s show was incredible; their clothes are truly a work of art. After seeing everything that has to happen behind the scenes, I have even more respect for everyone who works to make a show come together. One of the stylists said, “They say it takes a village to raise a child, but I think it takes an even larger village to make a show come together.”
Things I LOVED about the show:
-The Music: I don’t know if I would describe the music as “creepy” but that might be the only way to describe it- definitely not typical fashion show music- but I loved it! I wish there was a way to download it to my iPhone! Here’s a video of the actual show!
-The Beanies: While most people (including me) would never have thought to pair dresses with beanies, the stylists pulled it off wonderfully!
Trends for Fall 2013:
(The pics I took during the show would definitely not do this collection justice, so I got these pics from BCBG’s facebook page)
-Leather: From leather jackets to leather leggings black leather is definitely in! Even Lubov was spotted in a black leather jacket at the show.
-Layering: Jackets over dresses over leggings was a re-occuring look on this runway!
-Shift Dresses: I personally love this look and think it is the perfect way to combine comfort and fashion.
-Prints: Described as being influenced by Istanbul and Southern Europe, these tribal inspired prints were seen throughout the collection.
-Oxblood: This color was seen all over the runway and in the audience; Anna Wintour was spotted front row at the Vera Wang show in Oxblood!
Day 2 started bright & early- 6am to be exact which is 5am Texas time (Luckily the Starbucks by the office opened at 5:30)! We loaded the truck & hopped in our Mercedes-Benz vans (quite fitting for the occasion) and headed over to Lincoln Center. Once there I got to help check in the models & press, put the shoes and outfits with the correct model board & help people find whatever they were looking for whether it was a person, place or something as simple as batteries! I felt like I was dreaming the entire time! I got to see the lounge outside the theater and got to see the theater before anyone had entered! Showtime was at 10, so a little before it started me and a few other interns went in the theater to see if we would be able to stand along the back and catch some of the show. Right before it started some of the workers came around and were like “if there is an open seat take it, the shows about to start” . Someone pointed me in the direction of a seat on the 3RD ROW! Across from me I spotted Fern Mallis- Fern Mallis is the former Executive Director of CFDA and is known as the Creator of Fashion Week (it was originally called 7th on Sixth). After the show she walked right by me, I was definitely starstruck! I apologize for SO MANY pics… I may or may not have gone a little picture crazy! Stay tuned for Part 3 for a recap of the show!

Definitely a full house!

Some of y’all know that I interned with BCBG the past few days for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week; let me start off by saying it was no doubt the most incredible experience of my life. Even though we had to cut our trip short due to flight issues because of the approaching blizzard, it was worth every minute. And even with the temps much colder than I’m used to in Texas, I’m still in love with the beautiful city! The first day I interned I got to help with fittings, getting clothes ready for the show and even got to make a “legit intern coffee run.” Everyone that I worked with was wonderful and didn’t treat me like a lowly intern. One of the models who came in was telling me how BCBG is one of her favorite companies to work with because all the people are so nice, and I definitely believe it! Here are some pictures from day one! Stay tuned for MBFW Part 2!
